What is BlogFest SOCCSKSARGEN?
Welcome to the official page of the Blogfest Soccsksargen.
What was initially planned to be only a small gathering of blogger friends based in General Santos City and her environs, eventually turned out into the largest eyeball of online writers ever in South Central Mindanao when it finally happened on December 11, 2010 at the East Asia Royale Hotel.
That affair and its theme of “IF YOU BLOG IT, THEY WILL COME“, netted over 120 participants from as far as Davao, Cotabato, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod and Zamboanga. Gathering together for the first time, they not only were able to see the faces of the names behind the blogs they were following but were able to be updated on the latest blogging trends by various internet luminaries.
These were Google’s Aileen Apolo, Digital Filipino’s Janette Toral, former Presidential online manager Jay Jaboneta, tourism maven Michelle Lopez-Solon, Sunstar columnist/political blogger/budding chef Ria Jose, UP Journalism Professor Danny Arao, US-based Website Designer Dale Palileo, and internet security expert Bobby Soriano.
Due to its success, its lead convenor, Avel “Bariles” Manansala of GenSan News Online Mag and partner Orman Manansala of GandaEverSoMuch, teamed up with top local event organizer, Circle of Arts Production to pursue and organize the next iteration of Blogfest, now called the BLOGFEST SOCCSKSARGEN 2.0 on November 26, 2011.
Their team envisions Blogfest Soccsksargen to serve not only as a yearly Grand Eyeball of sorts for bloggers and online writers/publishers in Mindanao but as a convention where their skills and knowledge on what they do are further enhanced.
Therefore, with this upcoming Blogfest Soccskargen 2.0 on November 26, 2011, with its theme “The Emergence of Blogs & Social Media“, be sure to expect nothing less!
